MR. GREGORY: You know, I talked to John Lewis, the civil rights leader, recently who said he does think there's something particular, if it's racism, or something else about Obama that brings out a level of hatred. And let's be clear, there are plenty of pundits and others on the left who use, you know inflammatory and corrosive language.
Again: something else about Obama that brings out a level of hatred. Those of us who follow current events know that right-wing attacks on President Obama are baseless fabrications and outright lies. Here Gregory validates those lies in a nest of qualifiers. Watch Gregory pass the buck to John Lewis to evade responsibility. Watch Gregory immediately backpedal with "two wrongs make a right" as in it's fine for Republicans to smear the President with lies, "there are plenty of pundits and others on the left who use, you know inflammatory and corrosive language." Then it's okay.
But it's not. Gregory blames the victim, blames Obama for right-wing smears. It's Obama's fault that Republicans call him a Muslim, terrorist sympathizer, a socialist, an impostor, a fossil-fuel hater who likes high gas price, who wants to raise taxes, who apologizes to America's enemies, who caused the economic collapse, who is the "food stamp President", whose welfare give-aways and union handouts are bankrupting the nation, and any other made-up slime they can think up. It's all Obama's fault. David Gregory said so.
